Although you are visiting the one of the most prolific game viewing regions of the world, two thousand meters above sea level, there’s a lot more to do than purely safari. Spend hours trekking through Maasai-lands dotted with giraffe, zebra and buffalo, or absorb the culture of a beautiful pastoral culture, photographing their lifestyle. Better still, just drive to the Ol Dupai Gorge and discover the world where humanity was born.
Swimming Pool – Plunge into our heated pool with some of the best ever views of Africa. The pool also overlooks our Duma Waterhole.
The Mbogo Hide – Situated between the waterhole and the swimming pool, the Mbogo hide offers spectacular photographic opportunities.
Game Drives – Fort Ngorongoro is situated inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCAA), an amazingly diverse eco-biosphere that gives you access to both the world famous Ngorongoro Caldera and the southern short grass plains of Serengeti.
Ndutu – A short game drive from us, on the Matiti track, you will find Ndutu. It’s another world that changes its hues from season to season. You may choose to spend time with the migration between December and April or visit the Marsh Lion Pride during the dry season. Ndutu, like the crater, offers something at all times.
Treks – The region around The Fort offers some of the most spectacular treks found anywhere in Africa. We always suggest the surreal Makarot Route trek.
Ngorongoro Crater – At Fort Ngorongoro you have easier access to this amazing wildlife haven. You may choose to spend the entire day in the crater or do a half day game drive.
Picnic lunches– We’ll pack your lunch so you can get lost in the Ngorongoro Highlands.
Visit Maasai Bomas – We have set up a special boma for you to spend time with the Maasai. Learn the ways of this amazing tribe. You can even hop from one Maasai village to another shopping as you go along.
Bush Dinners – a surreal bush dinner is on offer (weather permitting)
Sun Downers – what is Africa without a spectacular sundowner.
Spa – Massages, manicure, pedicure, preparation of a Maasai bride, preparation of Morani Maasai warrior.
Cooking – Classes are held in the kitchen by our amazing chef.
Library -You could just sit on your own, take in the view and read to your hearts content.
Art – Artists are available from time to time. You have the opportunity to learn their way of Africa and even take a piece of this glorious continent back with you.
